Earthworm Jim 2 leans even further into absurdity than the original, mixing traditional run-and-gun platforming with wildly varied level gimmicks, from riding a giant hamster in a bubble to bungee-jumping through a cave, all held together by the same irreverent cartoon humour. Its willingness to break its own format from level to level kept the sequel feeling fresh rather than repeating the first game's structure wholesale.
