Vandal Hearts

Vandal Hearts is a tactical role-playing game where a small band of soldiers becomes entangled in a revolution against a corrupt kingdom, with a story that grows darker and more morally grey as it goes. Battles play out on isometric grids where elevation, facing and terrain type all affect combat, and permanent character death raises the stakes of every mistake. It arrived early in the PlayStation's life and helped establish the grid-based tactics genre on the console.
