Xenogears (Disc 1)

Xenogears is Square's ambitious science-fiction role-playing game, in which a young man named Fei is drawn into a war fought with giant humanoid machines called Gears. The first disc covers the bulk of the adventure: exploring towns and dungeons on foot, piloting Gears in battle, and slowly uncovering a story that reaches back thousands of years. Its combat mixes standard turn-based attacks with combo chains executed through button sequences, and the writing tackles unusually heavy themes for its era.
